If check-in day is an indicator of the kind of summer we are going to have here at MRO, then the future looks great!  Not only were we blessed with beautiful weather, but we also had regular visits throughout the day from our resident moose!  As more and more campers arrived, a yearling bull-moose that has been seen around the property from time to time showed up and visited the swimming area as well as the general entryway into camp!  Nearly every parent who dropped off their child got the opportunity to see the moose, with some seeing it from as close as 15 yards from our waterfront!

After that exciting start, camp has settled in well in its first 24 hours.  The campers already seem to be getting comfortable with each other and with their counselors.  While I am writing now, our waterfront is a bustling hub of activity as campers make full use of our fleet of kayaks and canoes.   They are enjoying the lake and preparing for their canoe trips later in the week.   Meanwhile, others are scaling the climbing wall for the first time and still others are riding the trails on our mountain bikes.  The adventure of 2008 is now well underway, and each camper here is already learning to enjoy the MRO experience!
