This time of year Moose River Outpost all but bursts with the contained excitement of anticipation as each staff member trains hard, prays harder, and awaits the arrival of the first campers of the season. Even as I write, our first staff members have already arrived on site and are diligently preparing their hearts, minds, and bodies for a summer of service at camp. We are making ready a program that encourages campers, enables them to learn from some of life’s most difficult questions, and challenges them with new experiences that they will simply never forget. The readers of this blog over the summer will probably not get to strap into a climbing harness or pile into a river raft, but they will get to participate in the ministry of camp from a distance.
Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, I will be posting an update on this blog about the events of our camp sessions. You will get to hear about the adventures we are having, the lessons we are learning, and the memories we are making. More importantly you can actually fuel our ministry with your prayers. Our staff can be perfectly prepared, passionately motivated, and extraordinarily skilled, but if God does not work in the hearts of our campers, our work will be incomplete. For that reason, I ask that as you read each blog entry you will also join me in lifting up Moose River Outpost in prayer for the effectiveness of the ministry and the safety of every camper.
I will begin regular postings on Sunday the 6th, the first day of camp. Between now and then I will do my best to give updates on the progress of our staff training weeks. Thank you for your prayers and for sharing in the adventure of Moose River Outpost’s summer season!
