The desire of the staff at Moose River Outpost is through the work of the Holy Spirit and the relationship built with the camper to introduce them to Jesus Christ or encourage them to fall more in love with His Personhood. It is through the relationship with a staff member that a camper will be introduced to the Love that Christ has for them. A 360 degree approach to ministry assures that the gospel is not limited to just the chapel, devotionals or Bible study times but is lived out through the community of camping, creating an Acts chapter 2 type fellowship.
Secondary to their relationship to the Lord, all staff are highly qualified and trained in their areas of work while at camp. Instruction during activity times comes from knowledgeable yet friendly staff who love that particular activity. Waterfront and Wilderness staff have all passed appropriate courses that a sure safe and profitable experiences for all campers. Replacing inappropriate role models with those of Christian young adults who teens look up to and relate to is our goal at Moose River Outpost. The staff is hand picked and come back each year from all over world to serve at camp.
The leadership staff at Moose River Outpost is committed to creating an environment that is relevant, safe, and unique for every individual that comes to camp. Much thought and preparation is put into planning evening activities and special events each with the specific goal of pointing to the Creator of heaven and earth. Leadership’s job at camp is to minister to the lives of the summer workers and in so doing, impacting the lives of the campers through that same summer staff.
Marcus Corey- Growing up in the western mountains of Maine, Marcus knew from middle school that he always wanted to be a part of a life changing camp for teens. While in high school and college he tried hosting a Christian snowboard camp of his own. The high school camp consisted of one friend and the college camp doubled to a whopping 2 friends. Moose River Outpost is a dream come true for Marcus and he is excited to see where the Lord is going to take this one of a kind camp. Marcus is the husband of one beautiful Heidi and father to not one but soon to be two beautiful children, Abishai and yet to be determined.
High School:
Heidi Corey- Heidi is very familiar with Christian Camping after growing up with a Father who is the maintenance man at Trout Lake Camps in northern Minnesota. Heidi is very excited to help Marcus in pursuing what God has called him to at Moose River Outpost. Heidi is the main reason why camp can stay organized and Marcus is very thankful for that! Heidi loves ministering to the lives of teenage girls along with the women staff. Heidi met Marcus in college and felt sorry for him and the rest is history.
The Sawyer’s- Deke, Helen, and their boys Kurt and Bret are our local folks who join us from right down the road in the Moose River Valley. Deke is a local pastor at the Fellowship Alliance Chapel and Helen is a wonderful mother who home schools her children. Deke at MRO is an all around guy helping with the campground and retreat hosting. Helen is our wonderful cook making all of our stomachs happy! The boys keep the dishes clean and keep everyone in line. We are so blessed to have the Sawyer’s at Moose River Outpost.
